FAQ's - Dog behaviour

Please reach us at  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Separation anxiety is common in dogs and can lead to destructive behavior when left alone. Gradual desensitisation to being alone, creating a safe and comfortable space, and using positive reinforcement can help alleviate separation anxiety. If desensitisation doesn't seem to be working, speak to a vet with behavioural knowledge about medicating your dog/ find out what else you can do.  If you have to leave your dog during the day, see if you can enrol them into doggy daycare.

 Dog Aggression:

Dog aggression refers to a behavior where a dog displays overtly hostile or threatening actions towards people, other dogs, or even other animals. It involves an intent to cause harm or establish dominance. Aggressive behaviors may include growling, lunging, biting, snarling, or snapping. Aggression can be rooted in fear, territorial instincts, dominance, or inadequate socialisation.

Dog Reactivity:

Dog reactivity, on the other hand, involves a heightened or intense response to specific stimuli, often other dogs or certain situations. Reactivity can manifest as barking, whining, pulling on the leash, or displaying overly excited behavior. While reactive dogs may appear aggressive due to their intense reactions, their intention is not necessarily to harm; rather, they are often expressing discomfort, anxiety, or frustration.

Patience is crucial. Gradually introduce your dog to their new surroundings, offering comfort, routine, and positive experiences. Provide a secure space, familiar scents, and engage in bonding activities to help them feel at ease.

Remember, each dog is unique, and understanding their behavior takes time and patience. If you have concerns about your dog's behaviour, seeking advice from a professional dog trainer or behaviourist is highly recommended. Your commitment to learning and understanding your dog will foster a loving and lasting relationship.
